With a proud history dating back to 1925, the Rotary Club of Hyannis has been using its influence to strengthen not only Cape Cod, but the world thanks to its principle of service over self.

That ideal is what initially attracted our CEO Jitka Borowick to the Hyannis Rotary in 2012. Since that time, she has worked tirelessly to make her mark in a club that does so much for the community.

In June, she took her commitment a step further when she was installed as the club’s latest President during a ceremony at the Hyannis Golf Club. Over the past year, Jitka served as President-Elect, overseeing the club’s annual Home Garden and Lifestyle Show in March. It was her idea to add the lifestyle component to the event which had previously been known as the Home and Garden Show during the previous 59 years.

Focus on International Project

Over the next 12 months, Jitka plans to continue growing the club with a focus on adding both younger members and female ones. She also is working on an international project – the Rotary works to unite communities across the globe – that combines her passions with those of the club.

At last month’s meeting, Jitka challenged her fellow club members to find ways they can serve as an inspiration, at the local, regional, national, and international levels. “Collectively, we can help the rotary reach great heights,” she told those in attendance. “I look forward to working with you all over the next year as we inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more.”

Jitka, who succeeds James Tvrdik as the club’s president, was also recognized as one of three members to receive a Paul Harris Fellow along with John Reed and new club Vice President Michael White. The award is “in appreciation of tangible and significant assistance given for the furtherance of better understanding and friendly relations among peoples of the world.”
